Specialized Courses in Prosthetics and Orthotics (SCOPe) have been specially designed to be the most accessible and flexible way to build your career in orthotics and prosthetics. SCOPe is ultimately focused on meeting the growing global demand for highly skilled orthotist prosthetists in organizations, communities, in public, private and not for profit sectors.
SCOPe courses utilize an innovative curriculum design to support participants to both building new skills and to grow their existing skills and competencies to effectively meet the needs of their communities as orthotic prosthetic practitioners. With SCOPe these skills are built bit by bit through a series of short, highly specialized courses which can be taken one at a time whilst maintaining employment. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, SCOPe has courses to suit you.
Through a dynamic mix of video lectures, quizzes, hands-on clinical practice and comprehensive follow up, participants can integrate their new skills into daily practice.

Course structure

 

SCOPe training courses deliver knowledge and skills across a number of formats, encompassed within 3 phases:

  1. Online academic/ theoretical studies (multi-media content, pre-recorded and live lectures studied via e-learning platform over a period of up to 8 weeks)
  2. Onsite clinical application of theory (onsite hands-on workshop at either the participants’ own workshop, or at a workshop easily accessible to all participants; duration: up to 9 days.)
  3. Follow-up (online sessions that immediately follow the hands-on worksop, where SCOPe educators follow up with participants to assist with the application of knowledge into regular daily practice. Participants prepare case presentations and are encouraged to engage with the lecturers in reviewing cases and problem-solving. Duration: up to 3 months.)

Who can apply

Anyone who is actively involved in prosthetic and orthotic patient treatment and has access to a worksop can apply and benefit from these courses.
If you are relatively new to the field of orthotics and prosthetics, then the basic courses are a great place to start!

If you already have an orthotic/prosthetic qualification, then the advanced courses will extend your knowledge and enable you to build competency in new areas, increasing your scope of practice.

Requirements:

  • You should be actively involved in P&O treatment of patients. At last one year of professional experience in the field is recommended.
  • You need a computer with constant and stable access to internet.
  • Motivation to improve your knowledge and skills

practical workshop

Certificate you can earn

At the end of the course, you are offered an opportunity to acquire a Human Study Certificate of Achievement. To acquire the certificate, you will have to sit for the final theoretical examination and successfully present at least one case presentation during the online follow-up period.

CPE Credits: You can use SCOPe Certificate to satisfy continuing education requirements of your country. Should you desire to do that, let us know and we can apply in advance to your local Certification Board for continuing education credits.

Modular approach to the ISPO Associate Level: You can also use your SCOPe Certificate to fulfill requirements to sit the ISPO exam for qualification as Associate Prosthetist Orthotist. To explore this option, please contact us with your request.

Fees

There is no general SCOPe fee that applies to all. Fee for each course is calculated on an individual basis, depending on the requirements of the course topic (e.g. complexity of the hands-on workshop, scope of needed theoretical content, number of participants per class, etc.).
